When it comes to baby food sometimes I like to be creative and try new interesting mixes to introduce babies to new tastes. Using two amazing seasonal ingredients (pumpkin and grapes) I prepared for my little Alex this baby meal and he really liked it. I tried it myself too. This is something I strongly suggest: always try your baby food before serving it. If you like it your baby will too. Of course do not expect a strong adult taste 😉
What I really liked about today’s pumpkin grapes and goat cheese mix is the nice balance between the sweetness of the pumpkin and the grapes and the saltiness of the goat cheese. Also, the grapes finely diced really added a nice texture to the final recipe. As the recipe only has 3 ingredients it is very important that you pick up high quality ones. Try the grapes before using them, they should be very sweet and firm.
Also, if you do not like goat cheese or you do not want to offer goat cheese to your baby you can easily substitute it with a more delicate cottage cheese or a ricotta cheese. I think that the goat cheese (in tiny doses) gives a nice punch to the overall taste.
Here you are the ingredients for 1 baby meal:
– 4 Tablespoons of warm homemade pumpkin puree
– 4 teaspoons of grapes in small pieces
– 2 teaspoons of goat cheese
The homemade pumpkin puree has a lovely taste. If you want the pumpkin puree recipe, click here. I usually prepare a large quantity of homemade pumpkin puree and store it in the freezer to be used when needed. If you do not have it you can use a good brand of canned puree, just check the ingredients!
I used white grapes, very very sweet. Directly from the farmers’ market. Peel the grapes, remove the seeds and chop them in tiny pieces.
The goat cheese can be introduced without any problem in a baby’s diet starting from 8 months. The one I used is, of course, pasteurized.
Considering the ingredients this is a recipe that doesn’t need to be stored and can be prepared at the very last minute. If you do have leftovers you can keep them in the refrigerator in an air tight container for one day.
Enjoy!!
