How to transform in few simple moves a traditional veggie pizza into a fun edible Christmas wreath!!
This is such a fun food project to do with your kids!!! They can shape the pizza at the beginning, or help you cutting out the shapes from the veggies or spread the tomato sauce or add their favorite toppings!!!
Also, you can add the toppings that you like, I decided to go for a super veggie loaded pizza, hi hi!
For the pizza dough, here you are my homemade recipe “the perfect pizza dough”
To make this fun Holiday Pizza you don’t need anything special: just two cookie cutters star shaped, a medium and a small one and, optional, a gingerbread man cookie cutter. To be sincere the mozzarella will melt and you will kind of loose the shape at the end…that’s why it’s optional 😉 or..if you want to keep the shape you will just need to bake the pizza without the mozzarella and, 5 minutes before it’s ready, remove it from the oven, add the gingerbread man shaped mozzarella, and put it back in the oven. It will not completely melt, will keep the cute shape, but (I’m 100% honest) will not have that nice golden color that you see in the video. So, it’s up to you: keep the shape or keep the golden crust 😉
I started preparing all the toppings: tomato sauce (I like the low sodium one, creamy) + mozzarella thickly sliced and transformed in gingerbread men + bell peppers, yellow, transformed in a big comet star and some small starts + baby spinach + broccoli florets.
Than I simply enlarged the pizza dough with my hands and one tablespoon of olive oil directly on the pizza pan. I love the one with the holes, the bottom crust cooks better!
With a small plate I removed the inner circle of the dough to create my wreath…and I used the inner circle to make another small pizza (not in the video).
I spread few tablespoons of tomato paste on the pizza and simply started the decoration.
A final drizzle of olive oil on top and directly in the preheated oven at 400F/180C for 18/20 min.
Simply Yummy!!!!
