Mother’s day! such a special day that I LOVE to celebrate, not only because I’m a mom of two lovely kids, but most of all because I have a very special mom that I adore and I have to thank her for so many good things that one day to celebrate doesn’t seem enough!
Today’s recipe is dedicated to her (and it’s one of her favorite!): crostata di frutta or fresh fruit tart. Homemade dough, not too sweet to balance the sweetness of the custard cream with a seasonal mix of fresh fruit on top and a thin layer of gelatine to keep the bright colors of the fruit.
The recipe is a bit time consuming (between prep and cooking time 2/3 hours + at least 2 hours in the fridge to rest), so I would suggest to prepare it the day before. The final result is soooo yummy that it is really worth it!!
A special thanks to Auntie Simona that gave me the original Italian recipe and I just converted grams in cups!! grazie Simo!
Happy mother’s day to all of you,
ciao ciao

May 15, 2014 at 7:38 pmHi! I used beans seeds, but you can use any dry seed you like (sometimes I use sunflower seeds). their function is to keep the parchment paper down, they serve as a light weight and they are removed once the crust is cooked! ciao!!b
