The countdown started, in few days it’s Christmas!!! The kids are sooo excited!! Xmas cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeers are already in the “to do” list 🙂
And with Xmas also comes the planning of the Xmas meal menu’: usually I look for something not ordinary, that maybe takes a bit more time than the usual 20/30 minutes that I have on week days, but still kid friendly and yummy.
Yes, you can always plan for an adult menu and a kid menu, but it’s double work and I really believe in the 1 family 1 menu philosophy 🙂
I would like to share with you a compilation of recipes that I tested over the years and enjoyed with my family.
Here you are BuonaPappa’s Xmas menu’!!
As appetizer you can start with some smoked salmon and avocado crostini with creamy cheese filling. I really like the lightness of the cheese filling: I used a mix of ricotta and cream cheese to make it more airy and delicate. As a base you can use any cracker biscuit that you like!
Another lovely appetizer is the puff pastry Xmas tree filled with broccoli and feta cheese. A fun appetizer as the kids can eat the Xmas tree on a stick.
Platters are the new trend…what about a Xmas tree veggie platter with your favorite dip for the kids to snack while the meal is cooking?
Another lovely decorative idea is the pizza Xmas wreath. You can either buy the dough or make it from scratch, involve your kids in the decoration phase, it will be fun and they can pick which veggies they want as a topping!
One of my favorite festive pasta dish is smoked salmon lasagna: creamy and tasty, delicate and nutritious. Very simple to prepare and a crowd pleaser!!
Homemade cannelloni are also a gorgeous idea! Filled with a cheesy zucchini cream, every bite is heaven. Cannelloni are basically crepes (savory super thin pancakes) that you can fill as you like: I opted for a zucchini filling, but also spinach and ricotta is a delicious combo.
What about an Holiday baby purée? Persimmons and apples are a delicate combo…and the baby purée can be easily used to fill some puff pastry dessert
You can suprise your kids with some chocolate zucchini cupcakes topped with fresh strawberries and transformed into Xmas trees.
Or…have fun with your kids creating an All Fruit Xmas tree 3D!!
Are you looking for some diy Xmas gift for the guests? What about a cookie jar with all the ingredients inside and the super easy recipe on the tag?
I wish all of you the best Xmas day with your families and loved ones, having fun cooking and enjoying healthy and tasty food!! Ciao b
