Fruit baby purees are my favorite: sooo simple to prepare and so different in taste pending which kind of organic seasonal fruit are you using.
Today I decided to mix three winter fruits: persimmon + Asian pear + Fuji apple. Perfect for a baby starting from 6 months.
Each of them has its own peculiar taste or texture and the final mix,
I chose Japanese Persimmons: super sweet and with a firm compact pulp without seeds. Super rich in Vitamin A, C and an excellent source of fiber.
Asian Pear: less sweet and with a more crispy texture compared to the traditional pear, rich in fiber, potassium, Vitamin K, C and copper
Fuji apples: they have such a crisp flavor with a refreshing sugary-sweet tone. They are juicy and aromatic and have slight hints of spice. Loaded with Vitamin C
The fruit puree preparation is simple and only takes less than 30 min. I usually leave the skin because it is where the nutrients are kept (being organic fruit I do not worry about pesticides…) and because I will puree it to make a nice and smooth puree.
I like to steam the fruit for few minutes (8min) because I think that the steaming process doesn’t destroy the nutrients in the fruit and at the same time makes the fruit more tender and more digestible by a little baby tummy.
You can prepare a nice quantity of baby fruit puree and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Also, you can use the baby puree as an ingredient for so many “adult” recipes. I love spreading this winter baby puree on my toast in the morning at breakfast or my friend Alessandra from BreadLoveAndDreams used it for a lovely and yummy Puff Pastry Christmas Tree. Check out her recipe.
It’s so convenient when you can prepare your baby food and with the same ingredients you can create something healthy and yummy for the rest of the family 😉
